the author's basement. The text was set with an IBM Executive
Typewriter. The images are reproduced from Lionel catalogues. The
book was either stapled or held together with brass pins. The press
run was 500 copies and three different covers were used. Yellow

divided into two volumes: Volume I contains Standard Gauge, 00 Gauge
and a new chapter on Catalogued Sets. Volume II contains 0 and 027
production, accessories, catalogues and paper. Many new color
photographs were added. Volume I was published in a hardback edition
of 7,500 with 128 pages. Volume II was published in a hardback

the story of Lionel Cowen’s partner Harry Grant. Grant’s very
important contribution to Lionel’s development were unknown
previously. Grant’s contributions were essential to Lionel’s

source documents including the original Lionel incorporation papers
(1900), papers dissolving the original corporation (1913), and
